Ahmet Gönüllüoğlu  is an illustrator & graphic designer was born 1983 and still living in Konya Turkey. He interested in drawing in his childhood.

1 – Describe how it was the first time you saw the movie “The Great Lebowski”

AG – I probably watched the film on TV 1-2 years later, after its released. I laughed at some of the scenes, it is an enjoyable and funny film but someway the last scene (maybe as it ends) makes me feel miserable.

2 – To give readers an idea of your art try to describe what are some of your cultural references. At least 3 sources of inspiration that are important to you and why

AG – Generally what I am interested in my daily life reflects on my works. I mostly inspire from the subjects of popular culture especially related with the cinema. I can say that I love working on the subjects that includes humor and makes people laugh. I don’t have any specific style choice. Most of the time, I decide what is appropriate for the theme.

3 – Describe what is your environment where you live and where you work

AG – The city (Konya) where I live in is a big and a close town to the capital (Anka-
ra) of Turkey. It is at the same time a historical place as it was once the capital of Seljuqi Empire. Generally, It is a quiet city. As I work homeoffice, I spend most of my time at home. When I go out, I spend time with my friends that we prefer going to the parks and do some outdoor activities but I don’t have any favourite place.

4 – Indicate which of 2 of the artists you attend regularly and what you think are the most you can find today in your creative environment

AG – Today, Owing to internet, you can keep following lots of artists easily which
means it is difficult to give a certain number of them. You can see lots of skillful artists and many numbers of remarkable works. One of the most important names who inspired me in being interested in graphic designing is İhap Hulusi Görey. He was the first graphic designer and illustrator in Turkey. The logos he designed for public and private companies are still being used today.

5 – Now that we are at the end. Try to explain what is the “Big Lebowski” for you and why do you think it has so much influence the world of graphics and illustration

AG – I love Coen brothers, they have a unique sense of humour. The Big Lebowski
has more profound meaning than it seems. You can catch a new detail, a wit and irony every time you watch. The dude character is a kind of therapist saying “forget about it”for mortals like us who always feel concern for everything around. I certainly watch this film whenever I fell miserable. I never get bored watching that movie! (once I begin to read the script instead of watching it) There are many interesting characters and incidents and also the visual symbolism is used really effectively. So eventually after having a great deal of fans, it became a cult movie and inspired to many of artists and still goes on spreading its reputation.
